Things to Do in Santander at Night: From Dinner to the Dance Floor
· Updated
A good night in Santander, Spain (Cantabria): pintxos in Cañadío or Puertochico, drinks in Cañadío or on Calle del Sol, then clubs from midnight until 04:30 or 06:00 (venue hours checked on 11 October 2026).
Santander is compact: almost everything happens between Puertochico, Cañadío and the streets around Plaza Porticada, and you can do it on foot. The exceptions are El Sardinero, by the beaches, and the two big concert venues, Sala Kaya and Escenario, which need a taxi or bus. Here's a typical night, then each part in more detail.
A typical night, hour by hour
| Time | What | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 20:00–21:00 | Gran Casino gaming room opens (20:00) | Plaza de Italia, El Sardinero |
| 21:00–22:30 | Pintxos or dinner | Cañadío, Puertochico, Calle del Medio, Daoiz y Velarde |
| 20:30–23:30 | Gig (on gig nights) | Escenario, Sala Kaya, Niágara |
| 22:30–00:00 | Drinks | Cañadío, Calle del Sol, Río de la Pila |
| 00:00–06:00 | Clubs | Kudéta, Niágara, Pandora, Malaspina, Samoa, Sala Queen |
Dinner and drinks times are a suggestion. Opening times are the ones each venue publishes, and gig times change with each date.
Eating and pintxos
The tourism office points to Calle Arrabal and Calle del Medio, by the Porticada and the Mercado del Este, for bars with tapas, and to Hernán Cortés and Peña Herbosa for bars and restaurants. Some names to start with: Restaurante Cañadío, open since 1981 and famous for its tortilla; Casa Lita, in Puertochico, with more than 300 pintxos and a terrace facing the port; Bodega Cigaleña and Mesón Rampalay, known for its rabas, on Daoiz y Velarde; and La Cátedra, on Calle del Medio, which bills itself as Cantabria's oldest bar, since 1866. San Fernando and Calle Vargas are a cheaper alternative.
If you're eating late, El Sardinero is the place: according to Planomato (March 2026), BNS Street Food on Avenida Reina Victoria opens every day until 01:00, and Maremondo, on Plaza de Italia, has a non-stop kitchen until 01:00.
Catching a gig
Santander has two big live venues for around 1,000 people each. Sala Kaya, on Avenida Nueva Montaña 2G, mixes concerts and club nights; this autumn it has Remember Reggaeton XXL (16 October), Halloween (31 October), techno with Héctor Oaks (6 November) and DJ Nano (21 November). Escenario Santander, by Parque de Las Llamas, runs its Rock Nights series midweek (Matt Woods on 13 October, Riot in the Attic on 27 October) plus themed parties. For something smaller, Sala Niágara books gigs before its DJ sessions, and Sala Rocambole on Hernán Cortés does live music, DJs and stand-up.

The Gran Casino del Sardinero
For a completely different evening, as the tourism office puts it, there's the Gran Casino on Plaza de Italia in El Sardinero. Its website lists the gaming room open every day from 20:00 to 04:00 and the slot room from 14:00 to 04:00, plus a restaurant with sea views, a terrace and a cocktail of the month. It also announces its own Halloween night on 31 October. The website's main page doesn't give the dress code or entry requirements, so ask before you go and bring ID.
Drinks and tardeo
Plaza Cañadío is where many people have their first drink, with Calle del Sol and Río de la Pila a few minutes away for something quieter or more alternative. If you'd rather start in the afternoon, Ramé Social Club opens at 17:00 from Friday to Sunday. We have a guide for each.

From midnight it's club time. Kudéta, the big one in Puertochico, opens Thursday to Saturday until 05:00 or 06:00 (18+). In the centre, Sala Niágara stays open until 06:00 at weekends, Malaspina and Pandora until 04:30, and Sala Queen, on Calle Tetuán, is the last stop until 06:00. If you prefer Latin dancing and a crowd over 30, Amarras in El Sardinero opens Friday to Sunday.

Winter or summer: what changes
The clubs in the centre and Kudéta open all year, and at weekends they close just as late in winter as in summer: Cantabria's rules apply the summer timetable to Friday and Saturday nights all year round. What does change is El Sardinero, which the tourism office describes as a calm area for a quiet drink, and which has far more going on in summer. In summer 2026 there was also a night boat, Bahía Zero, linking Santander with Pedreña and Somo from 26 June, with weekend departures until 04:30 and tickets at €3.50; we don't have a source on whether it runs in winter.
