Melao does not publish a dress code or minimum age. Wear something you can dance in, and bring your ID.
Latin music in the centre
Melao is one of the few clubs in central Santander built around Latin music. Its DJs play salsa, rumba and merengue alongside the Latin hits of the moment, so the floor mixes people who dance properly with people who just want a good night. It is next to the Plaza Porticada, in the heart of the centre, which makes it easy to fit into a night that starts with dinner nearby. The Plaza Porticada itself is part of the city's summer: during Semana Grande it hosts free open-air concerts in the Escenario Porticada series, so in July Melao is right in the middle of the action.

The programme goes beyond the DJ. Melao runs "viernes sociales", themed parties, live performances and birthdays, and shows football matches on a big screen. It also holds raffles for bottles and dinners and drink promotions. It has a cloakroom and security, which helps on cold nights. Opening hours published online are inconsistent, so check the night before you go or ask us. Football nights are a good excuse to start early with friends and stay for the dancing afterwards. Themed parties change through the year, so check its Instagram, @melaosantander, to see what is coming. If you want a specific night, message us before you go. Raffles and drink promotions also change, so the best way to know what is on is to ask.

Melao openly hosts birthdays, and with drink promotions and raffles it suits groups that want a lively night without the price of a big club table. Message us on WhatsApp with the date, the number of people and what you are celebrating and we will tell you what we can arrange. Tell us how many you are, the date and whether there is a birthday, and we will tell you what can be arranged. If some of the group want to dance salsa and others just want a drink, Melao works for both. And it is in the centre, so getting there and back is easy for everyone.
