Nightlife in El Sardinero, Santander: Where to Go by the Beach

· Updated

El Sardinero, Santander's beach district, has one club open all year with published hours: Amarras, for Latin dancing from Friday to Sunday. The rest of its night is quiet; the big nights come in summer.

Discoteca Amarras

Amarras, at Calle Joaquín Costa 28, is El Sardinero's club. It plays Latin music, salsa, bachata, merengue, kizomba and cha-cha-chá, in a retro-style room with live acts and themed parties. Listings say it is open to all ages but mostly draws people over 30, and every Friday it offers a free Latin dance class. Hours according to salir.com: Friday 22:30 to 4:30, Saturday 23:30 to 5:30 and Sunday 19:00 to midnight. Another listing gives different hours, so confirm before you go.

Escenario Santander, next door

Escenario Santander, at Avenida de la Constitución 27 in Parque de las Llamas, is a few minutes from El Sardinero. It is a 1,000-capacity concert hall that sometimes becomes a club, for example for the Disco Flash remember nights. Most concerts start between 20:30 and 21:30, so it combines well with dinner or a drink in El Sardinero afterwards.

The Casino and a quiet drink

Santander's tourist office describes El Sardinero as a good area for a drink in a peaceful atmosphere, for dinner or an ice cream, and suggests the Casino for a completely different evening. We could not verify the Casino's current hours or dress code, so check its own website before you go.

Summer: festivals and fireworks

El Sardinero's night really changes in summer. In 2026 there were fireworks over the Segunda Playa on Friday 24 July during Semana Grande and on 29 August during La Semanuca, both at 23:00. On the nearby La Magdalena peninsula, the Campa de la Magdalena hosted festivals such as Bahía Sun (19 July) and Magdalena en Vivo (late July). The 2027 dates have not been announced; we will expand this guide in May 2027 with the summer programme.

Getting back to the centre

Most of the clubs are in the centre and Puertochico, not in El Sardinero. If you want to carry on after Amarras or a concert at Escenario, the usual move is a taxi to Puertochico, where Kudéta stays open until 6:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. For buses, check tusantander.es before you go out: we have not been able to confirm a night service we can vouch for.
