Latin Clubs in Santander: Where to Dance Salsa and Bachata
If you want to dance in pairs rather than jump in a crowd, Santander has two clear options: Melao in the centre and Amarras in El Sardinero. They're different in crowd, hours and atmosphere. And if by Latin you mean reggaeton, that's a different list, which we cover at the end.
Melao: salsa and merengue by Plaza Porticada
Melao (Melao Discotec) is on Calle Guevara 12, a step from Plaza Porticada, in the middle of the old centre. The music is salsa, bachata, rumba, merengue and Latin hits, with DJs, live performances and "social Fridays", the nights when regulars come specifically to dance. It also runs drinks promotions. Being central, it's easy to combine with a tapas dinner on Arrabal or Del Medio, the streets next to the Porticada.
Its opening hours on map listings are inconsistent, so we don't publish them. Message us before you go and we'll confirm.
Amarras: the free Friday class in El Sardinero
Amarras is on Calle JoaquÃn Costa 28, in El Sardinero. Every Friday there's a free Latin dance class: salsa, bachata, merengue, cha-cha, kizomba, and sevillanas too. After the class, it's Latin hits, live acts and themed parties. The crowd is mixed in age, but it's especially popular with people over 30, which makes it one of the few places in town where you can go out dancing without feeling like the oldest in the room.
| Day | Amarras hours |
|---|---|
| Friday | 22:30–04:30 (free Latin class) |
| Saturday | 23:30–05:30 |
| Sunday | 19:00–24:00 |
The class time isn't published, so if you want to take it, get there when the doors open on Friday or ask us first. The Sunday session, from 19:00 to midnight, is good if you want to dance without wrecking your Monday.
Another option for a drink with Latin music
Little Bobby Speakeasy, on Calle del Sol, isn't a club but a cocktail bar with live funk, swing and jazz, and according to salir.com (September 2025) its upper floor plays Latin music. Good for a first drink before Melao, which is a few minutes' walk away. Check before you go, as directory information on this kind of bar ages quickly.

Before you go
- Melao's hours on map listings don't add up. Ask us before going.
- Amarras doesn't publish the class time. If you want to take it, be there at opening time on Friday.
- El Sardinero is away from the bar streets in the centre, so plan how you'll get there and back.
- Neither venue publishes an entry price. Ask us and we'll confirm it for your date.
If by Latin you mean reggaeton
Then you want Sala Kaya on its urban nights. On Friday 16 October it has Remember Reggaeton XXL, and its calendar regularly includes urban, reggaeton and trap artists live, like D.Valentino. It's a big room with three floors and private boxes, and a very different night from couples dancing salsa.
Quick answers
Do I need to know how to dance? Not to get in. If you want to learn, Amarras's free Friday class covers salsa, bachata, merengue, cha-cha and kizomba.
Where can I dance bachata on a Sunday? At Amarras, from 19:00 to midnight.
What's the crowd like? Amarras gets all ages, especially people over 30. Melao's social Fridays bring people who come to dance properly.
